The Uptown Games: A Spooktacular Success!

On Sunday, October 29th, The Uptown Games took place on Halloween Eve. Children grades (1-8) and their families from the neighborhoods of Washington Heights, Inwood, and, Harlem were invited to have a fang-tastic afternoon in our arena! The Armory Foundation bought a thrilling afternoon of fun for over 450 children. Who gathered on our track for a day filled with spooky fun, physical activity, and incredible surprises.

To kick off the day, the children received brand-new Nike Running Shoes, adding a spring to their step and a big smile to their faces.

The rest of the day was jam packed with a variety of activities. From the Haunted 200 M Dash, to the Ghostly Leap into the Sand Pit, our costumed participants showed off their speed and agility in a series of track & field events. Pumpkin Sack Races in the Infield added a whimsical touch, while the Witch Broomstick Relay Race brought out the magic in them. The Monster Maze Obstacle Course in the Throwing Cage challenged their problem-solving skills, and the Trick or Treat Bonanza at the Candy Cave filled their bags with delicious Halloween treats.

The surprises didn't end there. At the KPMG Book Nook, our young readers received free books to ignite their love for reading. The Spooky Bloomberg Build a Bear Workshop allowed children to craft customized teddy bears.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated volunteers from KPMG, AllianceBernstein, Nike, and Bloomberg, whose unwavering support and enthusiasm made The Uptown Games a memorable experience for all. Thanks to everyone's collective efforts, we celebrated Halloween in style and fostered a sense of community and physical wellness among our young participants.
